Thịt xay ướp chung với 4 muỗng bột nêm, 1/2 muỗng tiêu, hành lá băm nhuyễn trộn đều.

Vo tròn từng viên thịt sau đó cho vào chén. Đặt nồi nước lên bếp, khi nước sôi cho xíu mại vào hấp trong 10 phút. Tắt bếp.

Nước sốt cà chua: dầu nóng cho hộp cà chua vào xào, thêm một bát con nước lọc, nêm nếm lại gia vị và 1/2 muỗng bột bắp hoà chung với nước lọc đổ vào nước sốt để tạo độ sánh. Cho toàn bộ phần xíu mại đã chín vào nước sốt và nấu thêm 5 phút tắt bếp.

Khi ăn cho xíu mại ra chén, thêm hành lá, rau mùi, đồ chua chấm cùng bánh mì.
