I bought this book for my first grader who is heading to second grade. I wanted to make sure that he had a good grasp on the the concepts covered in first grade especially since the schools closed due to COVID19. This book has a wide range of activities. The activities gradually get more complex in each section. There is a good mix of easy and difficult activities. The book begins with handwriting practice and end with measuring. I gave this book 4 stars because at the end it has a getting ready for second grade section. I can appreciate this section but this section includes multiplication. This section does not start with easy multiplication but the 9 multiplication facts. I think there should be an easier introduction to multiplication facts. Also, some of the activities in this book may be too difficult for a first grader especially adding the perimeter of each shape with 3 digit numbers. This book would be excellent for an advanced student.
My 4 yr old son didn’t find it interesting
This workbook is not well made. We cannot cut and paste pictures in it because the opposite side of the page will get ruined. It’s also a little boring. There are much better workbooks out there. For the price, I’m disappointed.
Very happy with Scholastic books!
We love to use these Scholastic books as a supplement to our kiddos' other educational resources. We actually have them try to complete as much as they can for their current grade level over the summer after, to help reinforce the things they've learned throughout the school year. My first grader has even said much of it is fun to do. Thank you Scholastic for these books!
Great Summer Prep Book for 1st Grade
I purchased this book to work with my recently graduated Kindergartener over the summer. We worked on several pages a day in addition to reading. It covered a lot of great skills and my 6 year old enjoyed it. I think it helped her keep up her skills so that she is ready for 1st grade. (There were a few skills she had not covered yet, but we made it work).
5 year old approved!
My daughter loves this workbook! 20 minutes after we got it she wanted to start on it immediately. She finished the first two pages and immediately wanted to do more. The stickers are a great motivator and the pages are colorful and easily understood. We highly recommends!
Jumbo Workbook series is very helpful!
This Jumbo Workbook series is perfect to help my young grandson with the basics so he does better in kindergarten and now first grade - especially since quite a lot is expected of young kids in our school systems today.

I looked at SEVERAL books as well as asked for friends opinions on what they use and like. I ended up stumbling across this one and LOVE IT! My daughter is in kindergarten and I wanted something to help her out as she's on the younger end of all the kids. This book is just perfect! Challanging enough but fun. The variety in it is great as well. Would definitely again!
GREAT WORK BOOK
MY DAUGHTER LOVES THIS WORKBOOK, IT HAS LOTS OF ACTIVITIES AND PRACTICE FOR COMMON CORE MATH. IT ALSO CAME WITH STICKERS WHICH SHE LOVED EVEN MORE. GREAT FOR ANY 1ST GRADER OR ADVANCED CHILDREN WHO NEED A LITTLE PRACTICE
Great book!
I have a son going into first grade and I purchased this for over the summer learning. He really enjoyed this book. Some of the activities were challenging for him, but that is a good thing! Lots of pictures and very colorful, which I feel encouraged him to complete the book!

My granddaughter is in kindergarten and loves this book. I need to help her with the instructions, but that makes for fun together time for us! I would order again
